A family house in the Eixample district, organized around interlocking patios that bring light and air into the deep urban plot.
Located within the rigid grid of the 19th-century Eixample, the Patio House subverts the typical courtyard typology by fragmenting outdoor space into four patios of different sizes. The largest patio functions as an outdoor living room. The smallest, adjacent to the master bedroom, is a private garden. Movement through the house is organized around these outdoor rooms, blurring the boundary between inside and outside. Materials are deliberately restrained — concrete, plaster, and terracotta tile — to emphasize the qualities of light and shadow that change continuously through the day.
